On April 26th, the 2nd English Play Contest was concluded with perfect ending. Well prepared English dramas were staged one after another, which brought wonderful audio-visual enjoyment to the audience.
Due to the impact of epidemic, this contest was changed to online competition. 8 teams from different classes showed their talents. The plays are diverse in form, rich in interesting plots and strong in philosophy. There are both classic English drama such as Snow White, Cinderella and original work such as Eternal Youth, Puppet House and Butterfly Murders. Eternal Youth of Tourism English Class 1, Grade 21 interpreted the patriotic feelings of young students during the May 4th Movement. The competitors speak fluently and passionately. They lead us through to the unforgettable May 4th Youth Movement in 1919 and remind us not to forget the history and remember our original aspiration. Especially the music climax of the video work moved the judges. The play won the first prize in competition. In the work Puppet House, a group of puppets have a desire to become human. Everyone has a different dream. Can they succeed? Actors’ voices are cadenced, with a strong sense of rhythm and their work is full of creativity, which causes the audience to think deeply. Another work Butterfly Murders interprets psychological changes of freshmen and the struggling process after decadence. It reveals the spirit of contemporary college students to pursue their dreams.
