On May 17, 2024, Tourism English Department of International Education Institute held an event for the campus open day-----the Bilingual Route Planning Competition in room 1-421. Vice Deans Li Ying and Liu Li of the International Education Institute attended the event in person. In order to enhance inter-school communication with other schools, the International Education Institute invited teachers and students from Haikou Vocational Tourism School to observe and participate in the challenge activities during this "campus open day".
In the first part of the event, Tourism English Majors of Grade 2023 were divided into 6 groups to compete in the Bilingual Route Planning Competition. The participating students showed remarkable performances, with each group presenting well-thought itinerary plans, proper time arrangements, comprehensive content covering accommodation, transportation, shopping, and entertainment. They not only demonstrated unique insights and creativity in tourism route planning but also showcased excellent language skills through bilingual communication. The students displayed good teamwork spirit and creativity during the competition, adding vitality and charm to the event. Their outstanding performance not only highlighted the talent and solid skills of the students from Hainan College of Economics and Business but also provided the audience with an unforgettable audiovisual feast.
In the second part of the event, teachers and students from Haikou Vocational Tourism School visited each route planning team and participated in their games to obtain the pass stamps. At last, the top 20 students who collected pass stamps of all teams received exquisite gifts. The games were diverse and interesting, including riddles, word search, word matching, guessing nationalities from pictures, word chain, and so on. Teachers and students from Haikou Vocational Tourism School were enthusiastic and actively participated, creating an exceptionally lively atmosphere on-site. The students said that they not only gained knowledge and witnessed the charm of the seniors but also had a great time participating in tourism English-related games, making this experience really enjoyable and rewarding.
